Blower sound insulation reduces the high-frequency fan noise of industrial blowers by 25-40 dB using an acoustic enclosure, splitter silencer and vibration isolation. A standard intervention in wastewater treatment, paper mills, cement plants and other large facilities.
What is a blower? Acoustic characteristics
A blower delivers high airflow at low pressure. Roots, screw, turbo and centrifugal types exist. They produce dominant noise in the high-frequency band (1000-4000 Hz), which the ear perceives as sharp and especially annoying. Typical level 80-100 dBA.
Sectors where blowers are used
- Wastewater treatment (aeration)
- Paper mills
- Cement and aggregate plants
- Pneumatic conveying systems
- Textile industry
- Agriculture / fertiliser plants
Solution components
- Acoustic enclosure: sandwich panels with absorbent fill, tuned for high-frequency capture
- Inlet silencer: splitter silencer at the air intake
- Outlet silencer: high-frequency labyrinth on the discharge line
- Vibration mounts: elastomer mounts under the unit
- Acoustic door: Rw 35-40 dB for service
- Pipe and line wrap: structure-borne control on the discharge line
High-frequency band control
Blower noise has two main bands: low frequency (motor) and high frequency (fan blades). The high-frequency band is easily controlled by absorbent fill on the inside of the enclosure; the low-frequency band needs enclosure mass and vibration isolation.
Maintenance and atmosphere
Blower enclosures used in damp environments (e.g. wastewater plants) are built from moisture-resistant, corrosion-certified materials. Drain points are planned for internal condensate.
Target performance
- Enclosure Rw: 30-42 dB
- Airborne attenuation: 25-40 dB
- Environmental compliance: 45-55 dBA
- Working zone level: 75-80 dBA
Time and cost
A typical blower enclosure takes 2-4 weeks. Special site conditions (wastewater plants, large facilities) can extend the bespoke fabrication phase.
Certification
All panels and silencers are EN 13501-1 A2-s1, d0 fire-classified, EN ISO 7235 silencer-rated, EN ISO 11820 site-measurement certified.
