Packaging foam is a bespoke-cut foam solution that protects sensitive electronics, optics, measurement devices, machine parts and high-value products from impact and vibration during transport, storage and use. Cut by water-jet, CNC or die-cut with ±0.5 mm tolerance, in product-specific geometry and colour, it integrates into suitcases, cases and bespoke boxes.
What is packaging foam?
Packaging foam is shaped insert foam cut to fit the product geometry exactly to protect it from impact and vibration. Use cases: keeping the product still during transport, absorbing energy on impact, and presenting the product neatly when the case opens.
Cutting technologies
- CNC water-jet: complex geometry, deep profile
- CNC oscillating blade: fast series production
- Die-cut: high-volume small parts
- Hot wire: flat surfaces and thick sheets
- Hand-pluck (perforated foam): flexible field cutting
Foam types
- Polyethylene (EPE / EPP): firm, high rebound
- Soft PU foam: sensitive electronics, optics
- Anti-static foam: ESD-sensitive electronics
- Conductive foam: PCB and microelectronics
- Diet-cut premium black foam: high-end cases
- Convoluted (egg-crate) surface: contour fit
Technical data
- Density: 25-200 kg/m³ (by foam class)
- Thickness: 5 / 10 / 20 / 50 / 100 mm
- Compression resistance: CFD 4-65 kPa
- Colour: black (default), grey, blue, custom RAL
- Fire class: certified BS 476 / UL 94 V-0 options
Where it is used
- Measurement / test instrument transport cases
- Professional camera and optics cases
- Medical device shipping boxes
- Defence, aerospace and weapons carriage
- Spare-part and service kits
- Premium product and gift boxes
- Industrial calibration tool kits
Design process
1) 3D model or sample of the product. 2) Tolerance and compression margin defined. 3) Foam class chosen (firmness, ESD requirement). 4) Colour and aesthetic decisions. 5) Sample cut + approval. 6) Series production and packaging.
